Job Description:
Work in the kitchen at Kakure Robataya Gaburi Shijo-Kawaramachi, a popular straw-fired robata izakaya in central Kyoto, just 1 minute from Shijo Station. Start with simple plating and build up to cooking; the owner and team teach knife skills and cooking techniques from scratch, so kitchen beginners are very welcome. Menu creation suggestions from staff are also welcomed - a genuinely hands-on cooking environment. Shifts run 17:00-03:00 (overnight) depending on the day; on Sundays and public holidays the store closes at 22:00, while Friday and Saturday nights run to 03:00. A deep-night allowance (shinya-teate) of 25% applies from 22:00, raising the rate to 1,500 yen per hour. Staff meals (makanai) using the restaurant's own ingredients are provided after shifts, with takeaway also permitted. Note: this is a smoking-permitted venue; high school students cannot apply. Foreign applicants must have Japanese Language Proficiency Test N2 or above.
Wage:
1,200円 (per hour) Deep-night 22:00 onwards: 1,500 yen/hr (shinya-teate, base x 1.25). Research period: 1,180 yen/hr (approx. 60 hours). Year-end and New Year period: additional rate increase. Regular salary increases based on skills and shift contribution. Some staff earning 1,250 yen/hr or above.
