Job Description:

Work at Thermae Okayama Ekimae Izumi, a self-pour izakaya (居酒屋) where guests pour their own drinks from taps at each table — a concept that went viral on TikTok and social media and has been featured on TV and in magazines. The store is a new opening in central Okayama, 3 minutes from Okayama Station. Because guests handle their own drinks via self-service taps and place food orders through a mobile ordering system, staff interaction is lower than at a typical izakaya — making it a relaxed environment for first-time restaurant workers. Hall staff seat guests, serve food, and process bills. Kitchen staff handle ingredient preparation, simple cooking, and dishwashing. Shifts run from as little as 3 hours and 1 day a week, from 14:00 through to 01:00 the following morning. Late-night shifts from 22:00 carry a 25% wage increase (深夜手当 shinya-teate) and are open to applicants aged 18 and over only (Japanese labour law). High school students may work but not after 22:00. Training (研修 kenshuu) runs for approximately 3 months at the same base rate. Staff meals (まかない makanai) are provided by the kitchen team daily. Note: the uniform T-shirt must be purchased for 3,000 yen and is not refunded on leaving.

Wage:

1,104円 (per hour) Late-night allowance (深夜手当 shinya-teate): 25% increase from 22:00 — base deep-night rate 1,380 yen/hour; experienced/post-training deep-night rate up to 1,563 yen/hour. Overtime (8h+): 25% increase. Salary increases (昇給 shoushou) based on performance — fast-track promotion possible.
