Job Description:

This is a confectionery packing role at a Japanese sweets manufacturer in Fushimi-ku, Kyoto City, placed through a staffing agency (派遣 haken). The factory produces popular sweets sold at department stores and tourist spots including konpeito (金平糖 konpeito — star-shaped sugar candy), rice crackers, fortune cookie wafers, colourful rock candy, and animal-shaped biscuits. The three main tasks are straightforward and repeat throughout the shift: counting or weighing the specified amount of sweets and placing them into dedicated packaging bags, heat-sealing the bags with a dedicated machine, and doing a light check to confirm the bag is properly sealed. No complex machinery or technical skills are required — if you can count and operate a simple sealing machine, you can do this job from day one. This is a short-term assignment running from November through to the end of January, covering the busiest souvenir and gift season of the year. The shift runs from 09:00 to 18:00 with a 60-minute break and virtually no overtime; Sundays are fixed days off plus one additional weekday, with Saturday off also negotiable. An advance payment scheme (前払い maebarai) is available, and a staff discount on the company's own sweets products is provided — popular for gifting to family and friends. Overtime beyond 8 actual working hours is paid at 1,563 yen per hour.
