Job Description:
This is a kitchen preparation role at Kushiyaki Karasuma Bunta, a small yakitori and kushiyaki izakaya in Nakagyo-ku, Kyoto, a 3-minute walk from Karasuma and Shijo stations. You will handle food prep during the pre-opening window (13:00-17:00) — cutting vegetables, portioning chicken, and threading ingredients onto skewers by hand, one by one — with no customer contact throughout. You can listen to music or watch videos on earphones while working, making it a surprisingly relaxed and self-paced role that many staff say flies by. No knife experience is needed — the owner and team teach everything from scratch, and the small team of 2 to 3 people keeps the atmosphere close-knit. Pay is monthly with cash-in-hand (手渡し tewatashi). A 100-hour training period applies at 1,150 yen per hour; post-training rate is 1,250 yen or above. Prior food experience may qualify you for a higher starting rate. Hair colour, style, nails, beard, and piercings are all permitted. Minimum contract period of 3 months.
